Delphi Uses Formatter

Uses Formatter is a small utility for quickly formatting Delphi unit files (*.pas).
Simply drag and drop one or more Pascal files into the application. The tool detects the uses section and formats the entries in a clean and consistent way. This makes long or messy uses lists easier to read and maintain.

- Optional sorting of the type section (components, fields, methods per visibility section)
- Side-by-side preview with Pascal syntax highlighting before applying changes
- Automatic file encoding detection (ANSI / UTF-8)
- Optional .bak backup before overwriting files
- Warning when unit order changes — relevant for initialization order and name conflicts
- Persistent settings saved per user
- Automatic update check on startup (optional)

What is it for?
Over time, uses sections in Delphi files can become cluttered. New units are added, old ones remain, lines get too long, and formatting becomes inconsistent.
Uses Formatter helps structure these sections again. The tool does not change your program logic. It focuses only on improving the readability of the uses section.

Start the application
Drag one or more .pas files into the window
Preview the changes in the side-by-side editor
Apply the formatting with a single click
Note
Please create a backup of your files before using the tool, or use a version control system such as Git. Even though the tool is designed for targeted formatting, keeping a backup is always recommended when making automatic code changes. The built-in .bak option can help
with this.
